Abilene and about 13 miles north of Coleman

Located approximately 8 miles west of Coleman, Hords Creek Lake is one of Texas’ most pretty little lakes. The lake is surrounded by beautiful oak trees and offers many activities to all those who enjoy the outdoors. There is a park on each side of the lake, each providing roughly 60 campsites, all standard with water and electricity.
The Camp Bowie Family Aquatic Center is one of Brownwood’s newest and most popular
attractions.
Open during the summer months, key features of the Camp Bowie Family Aquatic Center
include a slide tower with slide, water geysers, a tot slide, coolbrellas, a
pavilion, 4 lap lanes, a diving board, zero entry beach, a current channel, and much
more. There is also a concession stand with light snacks, bath house, and small
lockers available for rent. The new facility is located directly across the street
from Gordon Wood Stadium.
Activities include picnicking, camping, hiking (2.5 miles of hiking trails and a
0.5-mile nature trail), boating (motors allowed), water skiing (jet skis allowed),
fishing, nature study, swimming (in an unsupervised swimming area), and
bird-watching. We loan fishing equipment for use in the park.
